Chow at Chow

I am not a fan of eating out for breakfast. I prefer eating at home in the morning because it is the time of the day when I unleash what needs to be unleashed. But sometimes, this is not really an issue. Just this morning, my brothers and I agreed on having our first meal of the day at Chowking. It was an exciting date because it was our first time since we transferred to Makati. Donning our best pambahay attire, off we went to Chowking at the Export Bank Plaza, Chino Roces corner Gil Puyat.

Upon arriving at the place, we ordered for our food at once and went to our spot. After five minutes, our coffees arrived.


I love coffee! But this one is not my type. If you are a fan of dark, bitter coffee, then, this one is for you. For this one cup, I added two sachets of sugar and one sachet of creamer. But its bitterness was really overpowering, so nothing happened. Actually, it tasted weird. However, its taste was tolerable, so if you will order coffee at Chowking, just do not add sugar. And, let it cool or you might drop it when it's too hot! Just after one sip of my coffee, the Crab and Corn Soup came.




Oh! Yes! I almost forgot that it was a soup because it was overflowing with sweet corn kernels and crab meat! When I tasted it, at first, I thought it was too sweet. But, it only took me three spoons to realize that the soup was perfect. I really love the texture of the soup; the slight crunchiness of the corn and the delicate crab meat really complement each other. The soup was generally sweet, but the taste was not overwhelming. I would say that it is something that I would order again (maybe next week?). I finished just half of my soup (I was supposed to take everything in) to give way to the King.





The King's Special consists of fried rice, sunny-side-up egg, ham, longganisa, and tapa (my favorite!). The rice was okay; it's just your typical fried rice at home. Nothing special. The egg was supposed to be sunny-side-up, but mine's egg yolk bursted, so it was not perfect. It tasted like a typical fried egg. The ham was also all right. I expected a sweeter one, but it tasted well, so I still appreciated it. The longganisa tasted good. It was not awesome, but I really liked it because it was not fatty. The meat was not coarse as it did not have stray small chunks of meat. The tapa.... The tapa was perfect! It was not too salty. Just right. And the best thing was that the meat was so tender! Whenever I eat tapa, the first thing that I look for is the tenderness of the meat. If the meat is not tender, then, my tapa moment is ruined. Good thing, the tapa on my plate that morning was really tender. I never needed a knife to slice it. Just my spoon was enough. The tapa was the best part of my King's Special.


It was a satisfying meal. I really enjoyed it. What made it more enjoyable is that I shared it with my best eating buddies. After an hour or so, we wrapped up our breakfast date. And this was what was left of my food:





I could have finished everything if I am just an egg-lover. ^ ^

Side dish:

*When you order extra rice during breakfast at Chowking, make sure that you ask for fried rice also because their plain rice was a bit hard like it was undercooked (I am not sure if its the same in all Chowking branches), but it was tolerable. To be sure, just go for the fried rice.

Breakfast at Chowking is always a good break from McDonald's and Jollibee. The Oriental Ham is my favorite.Ü It's my favorite Tagaytay breakfast when we don't get to bring stuff from Manila to cook in the morning.

Hi Russ! Haven't tried Mcdonald's breakfast yet. I also love the Oriental Ham, but my fave is their tapa! Yum!
